Where London helicopters fly from
The London Heliport at Battersea, on the south bank of the Thames, is where private helicopters land in the city. Over central London helicopters follow set routes along the river, which keeps them away from the busiest airspace and over open water.
Where people fly
To and from the business airports, to connect with a private jet without the traffic; to race days, golf and polo in the counties around London; to country houses with their own landing site. Flights to Paris or the Channel Islands are possible but a light jet is usually faster and cheaper over that distance.
What it costs
A twin engine helicopter is billed per flight hour, €3,500 to €5,500 in our model, plus the landing fees at the heliport and at the destination. A short city to airport transfer is a fraction of the hour; the desk quotes the total.
