Price per hour, by class

The hourly rate depends first on the size of the aircraft: a bigger cabin flies faster and further, but burns more fuel and needs more crew. These are the bands our desk quotes with this month.

e.g. Citation Mustang · up to 4 seats

€2,800 to €3,600 / hour

Light Jet

e.g. Citation CJ3 · up to 7 seats

€3,600 to €4,800 / hour

Midsize Jet

e.g. Citation XLS · up to 8 seats

Super Midsize Jet

e.g. Challenger 350 · up to 9 seats

€6,200 to €8,000 / hour

Heavy Jet

e.g. Falcon 900 · up to 12 seats

€8,000 to €11,000 / hour

Ultra Long Range

e.g. Gulfstream G550 · up to 14 seats

€11,000 to €15,000 / hour

What you are paying for

You pay for block time, from engine start to engine stop, not for distance. Seven calculations sit behind every honest quote.

  1. 01

    Route

Airways, not the straight line on a map.

  2. 02

    Wind

Seasonal winds lengthen or shorten the block time.

  3. 03

    Aircraft

Speed and fuel curve of the exact type.

  4. 04

    Fuel

Burn for the hours and the weight on board.

  5. 05

    Airports

Landing, parking, handling, passenger and security fees.

  6. 06

    Positioning

The empty hours to reach you: from a quarter to almost half of the bill.

  7. 07

    Operators

Who really has an aircraft free on your date.

Why two quotes for the same trip differ

The biggest variable is where the aircraft sleeps. A jet based at Linate flies you to Farnborough and back; a jet based in Geneva first flies empty to Milan. Those positioning hours are part of the price, and they add from a quarter to almost half of the flying time.

Then come airport fees, which depend on the weight of the aircraft and the country, crew rest rules on long days, and the age and cabin of the specific tail number.

Questions

How much does a private jet cost per hour?+

In our model for November 2026, from €2,800 an hour for a very light jet like the Citation Mustang to €15,000 an hour for an ultra long range jet like the Gulfstream G550.

Do you pay for the hours in the air or the whole day?+

You pay block time, from engine start to engine stop, plus the positioning hours the aircraft needs to reach you and return to base. Waiting time on the ground is usually charged only on longer stays.

Is the price per person or per aircraft?+

Per aircraft. A light jet seats up to 7, so the same €10,300 trip divided among 7 travellers changes the picture.

How can I pay less for a private jet?+

Fly an empty leg when your dates allow it, choose the smallest class that is comfortable for your group and distance, and keep a window of flexibility on the departure time.

Why are two quotes for the same trip different?+

Mostly positioning: an aircraft based at your departure airport costs fewer hours than one flying in from another country. Airport fees, crew rest and the age of the aircraft explain the rest.
